History

Where it all began. A note of thanks!

Across her late teens, law degree and early professional years, several encounters prompted Dawn’s decision and ability to train as a notary. All were guiding lights in Dawn’s professional journey and are remembered with gratitude

25 years as a notary in 2024

QUALIFIED AND FULL STEAM AHEAD

In 1999, aged 25, Dawn qualified as a notary public mid-way through her solicitor training contract (focusing on corporate commercial, M&A and family business).  Some would say she was a bit keen as that was very unusual at the time.  Dawn was self-funded and relentless in her pursuit, obtaining the highest notarial exam mark in her year and at the time, one of the youngest qualifying notaries in the country, winning an award from the Notaries Society in recognition.

In 2010, Dawn left law firm partnership and set out on her own, including forming Company Notary, which she developed to reflect her values and how she believes clients should be served.   In that time Dawn has supervised several new notaries, and also supported those leaving their law firms in solicitor retirement but wanting to continue their notary work.

Company Notary is supported by consultant Iain MacLeod, who has 35 years of notarial practice. In 2025, Company Notary will be joined by another consultant, with a magic circle and financial sevices background, at the very beginning of her notarial career.

What’s next

Nearly 25 years on, Dawn has built her connections and business consulting international career around being relational, relevant and responsive. Dawn has invested heavily in practice management and in 2024, through Mobile Notary Register Limited, will introduce a proprietary virtual notary practice management platform and toolset into Company Notary. We will be adding additional consulting team members to our notary resource. Dawn and the Company Notary team will continue to prioritise delivering a personalised service, professional independence and serving our customers with agility, humility and throughout, showing integrity in action.
